1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using ResearchR at researchr.io ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

ResearchR is an AI-powered platform that helps students and researchers create personalized outreach emails to professors. The Service includes features for profile building, professor discovery, email generation, and email tracking through Gmail integration.

3. Account Registration

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use the Service to:

  • Send spam, unsolicited bulk emails, or harassing messages
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your identity or qualifications
  • Send emails with false or misleading content
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on intellectual property rights of others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service
  • Use automated systems to abuse the Service beyond intended use
  • Collect or harvest data about other users
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose without authorization

5. Email Sending Guidelines

ResearchR is designed for legitimate academic outreach. By using our email features, you agree to:

  • Only contact professors you have a genuine academic interest in
  • Send personalized, relevant emails (not mass generic messages)
  • Respect rate limits and anti-spam measures we implement
  • Not use the Service for marketing, sales, or non-academic purposes
  • Take responsibility for all emails sent through your account

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.

6. Gmail Integration

If you choose to connect your Gmail account, you grant ResearchR permission to:

  • Send emails on your behalf to professors you select
  • Read email responses from professors in your ResearchR account
  • Track email opens and engagement metrics

You can disconnect your Gmail account at any time from the Settings page. We only access emails related to your ResearchR activity and do not access other emails in your inbox.

7. Credits and Payments

The Service uses a credit system for AI-powered features. By purchasing credits or subscribing to a paid plan:

  • All purchases are processed through Stripe
  • Credits are non-refundable except as required by law
  • Unused credits do not expire while your account is active
  • Subscription renewals are automatic unless cancelled
  • Prices may change with notice to existing subscribers

8. AI-Generated Content

The Service uses AI to generate email content based on your profile and professor information. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI-generated content may not always be accurate or appropriate
  • You are responsible for reviewing and editing all generated content before sending
  • You take full responsibility for emails you send, regardless of AI involvement
  • We do not guarantee any specific outcomes from using AI-generated emails

9. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by ResearchR and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of content you provide (profile information, uploaded resumes, etc.). By using the Service, you grant us a license to use this content to provide the Service to you.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE ANY SPECIFIC RESULTS FROM USING THE SERVICE, INCLUDING RESPONSES FROM PROFESSORS OR RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RESEARCHR SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Service will immediately cease
  • We may delete your account and associated data
  • Any unused credits will be forfeited

You may delete your account at any time by contacting support.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
